Hearing test

Went to participate in a hearing test for batchmate's research group today

It was really cool

Unlike the cranial nerve examinations we were taught, they actually use a device to check the frequency of our hearing!

*excited*

So we're urged to put on this kinda-heavy-and-gigantic-looking-headset and given a device to hold on to (for which you're supposed to press when you hear a tune)

They will test your hearing each ear respectively and you're supposed to hear a tone of different frequency

Although the test was conducted in a sound-proof room (I bet you can hear a needle fall onto the floor even) it's kinda hard to 'catch' the tune

What more to say, the tone you hear will get softer and softer each time

I've to strain my ears really hard, to the extent I actually stop my breathing

Another thing that is eerie is that

You can actually hear your heart beating, like the ones you get in horror movies (before the ghost appears)

I wonder how do they expect us to concentrate when all these sounds are obscuring the tune

In the end I gave up

And just follow my heart

So I just pressed whenever I 'think' I hear the tune (could be imaginary)

Surprise, surprise

Turn out that my hearing is normal after all XDD

Thank God

Of course it comes with a price

The whole test took my breath away

Literally ><

Ok lah, not to that extent

But when the test ended I was so relieved 'cause I can finally breath normally

It was fun, you guys should try it

(trying to drag more scapegoat to hide the embarrassment)

That's probably gonna be the most happening event for me during this holiday X)

GBU 1129

It is true that good things happen when you least expect it

Someone shared this email with me, so I'm posting it up here for everyone

Hope you like it as I do X)

******************************

Dear Lord, I thank you this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning.

I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God.

You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.

Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.

Help me start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.

Let me make the best of each day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.

Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil.

And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example -- to slip away and find a quiet place to pray.

It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.

I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart.

Continue to use me to do Your will.

Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.

Keep me strong that I may help the weak.

Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those who are lost and can't find their way.

I pray for those who are misjudged and misunderstood.

I pray for those who don't know You intimately.

I pray for those who don't believe.

But I thank you that I believe.

I believe that God changes people and God changes things.

I pray for all my sisters and brothers.

For every family member in their households I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.

Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.

I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Amen.

Curiosity kills the cat

Feeling lazy and had nothing to do

I decided to clear my desk

As I ransacked through my drawer, guess what I found?

Ta-dah!!

It's a pepper spray my Dad gave me before I came to KL

How nostalgic!

No wonder I couldn't find it any where

(although hasn't use it before)

Maybe it was stuck in my drawer for too long, or I accidentally shaked it

Somehow, the content was leaking out (to my horror!)

Being the typical OCD person, I didn't wanna have the somewhat-very-gross-yellowish-liquid dripping on my carpet

So I ran to the bathroom as fast as I could

Glad to say I made it on time

As I was rinsing it under running tap, suddenly it occurred to me that

I never know how to work this thing

So I examine the spray for a while and overestimated my strength when I push down the button ><

(I swear it was an accident)

And the worse thing is, it was facing me when I did that

Initially I thought it wouldn't be of any effect since:
  1. I got it long time ago, which probably expires by now
  2. It didn't give out any odour when it was leaking so I assume shouldn't have any problem when you spray it
  3. Probably, just probably I didn't press it down fully (denial)
But I was wrong ><

The effect kicks in after a while

Now my bathroom smells of choking pepper

And I'm coughing like a TB patient

Gosh, I'm so smart!

What they say

Every time I go home for school break, my Dad will always remind me

I never really get to know what he means until recently

I believe in every relationship, be it friendship, intimate etc etc

It is always based on a reciprocal equation to achieve an equilibrium

Just like the saying, 'It takes two to tango'

Both party has to contribute in order to sustain the equation

So what if I accidentally gave more than I should and worse still, did not receive the equivalent amount back from the other party

Like, you probably gave in all but received barely anything in return

Naturally you'd feel disappointed and of course, hurt

'Why does he/she treat me so cold? I care so much for him/her'

If you've that kind of expectations, then you're wrong

Very wrong indeed

You can't expect everyone to think the same

Just because they didn't treat you the way you want, doesn't mean that they don't care for you

I admit that I made the same mistake

Because I also, was having expectations

I'm not a very nice person to begin with

Yet still hoping people to befriend me, very stupid huh? X)

But I softened after reading these:

I wanted people to treat me nice, wanted them to be my friends

So I treated them nice (as how I perceived it) and befriended them X)

I don't want them to ignore me, so I make sure I greet them

You see, it's not a natural thing but somewhat seems like an ulterior motive isn't it?

Terrible me =]

There's a saying in Buddhism:

Look around you

How many past-life's amount of smiles have you encounter to have them as friends?

I've too little things in life that matters to me

When one of them is taken, my natural reflex was to get it back like a child who lost his favourite toy

Then throw a tantrum when things didn't go my way

It is so unsightly

If you're still being so narrow-minded, you'll just behave like a child for your entire life

You're unable to see the broader picture because your world is just so small

It is time for me to change =)

Some day, I will set foot to the outside world

To broaden my view and experience things that are beyond my imaginations

To climb the tallest mountain and to travel across the cruel desert

And I hope when the day comes, I'll have a bigger heart

With a wider perspective and have more things in this world that I can hold on to

That I can look back and say proudly,

"It's not that hard. I finally did it!"

Sorry for the long babbling X)

Raya hols

2nd week just ended!!

Gosh, I'm so glad ><

Gonna have 9 days away from ward ward, TBLs, Seminars etc etc

Not that I've any plans upcoming but who would complain of extra holidays wakakakakaka XDD

Will take this opportunity to rest well

(macamlah Psychiatry so much work like that -.-)

I'm stuck in Seremban till school reopens but that's the least of my concern at the moment

Ah, I already have my to-do list filled up X)

Hopefully I'll be able to pace things up and everything is as planned :D

(I think I've the potential to be an otaku, seriously)

Therefore, tonight I shall indulge myself a bit in the celebration mood of Raya's eve XDD

(Just finding an excuse to be lazy)

30 minutes left to the big day!!

Selamat Hari Raya, my Muslim friends!!

Lemangs and Rendang are waiting for you ><

Wish you guys could see the fireworks display outside my window right now X)

To the non-muslims, have an enjoyable holiday X)

Psych-ed!

First week of Psychiatry posting just ended!

Wouldn't exactly say that it's fun and all

But it's really interesting to see a real case of Schizophrenia

(Typical medical student, other people's misery = one's excitement)

There are not many patients left in the wards, since the Raya celebration is coming soon

Most of them would go home to their family for the festival

Well, not all of them are that uncontrollable la

Few of them actually are quite pleasant to talk to

The presentations we seen so far ranges from the very minor

Time disorientation

Or they might creep up to you suddenly and make random comment

Of course, there are also those who are really not approachable

They will simply ignore you and continue to be in their own world ie. talking to the wall, wandering around etc

Only managed to see 3 cases, all of them having Schizophrenia

Still a lot of things need to read up on

And so that's my current life X)

Been quite nerdy lately wakakakakaka XDD

.

I seriously wonder if one day I'll bump into this situation

I'm just kidding, no offense meant here :D

Part and parcel

You know in life that you'd never get everything you want

Even when you're a kid, you know better not to touch a flying object

As you grow older, you slowly learn to handle things through trial and error

And when you succeeded, you would feel happy even without a praise

Because the joy behind is simply indescribable X)

Sometimes I wish I'm still a kid

So that I'd be not afraid of taking chances

To be so honest in your own feelings

To be able to let out everything without holding back

To be able to cry, laugh, scream like no one's looking

And to say out loudly what I really wish for

There's no one stopping me, you'd say

I know that perfectly well as you do

Yet I still choose to let it swell within me

Yes, it's very stupid

Anyway I'm not a smart person to begin with X)

Or is it pathetic to hope for something that will never happen?

Perhaps it's time for me to let it go

After all, it is part of life to know when to give up

Although it might be a little bit too late in this case

I'm still hoping that it might make some changes

Even at its slightest bit

*****************************

It's a series of old comic strips I drew last time...so it might not make much senses

I'm just re-using them here LOL XDD

I know I'm lazy

Or maybe deep in my heart

I'm just too tired

Too tired in sustaining that hope

I give up =)
